Services Provided: Assistance with oil, electricity, medical insurance, medication, food, rent, and any other emergencies that may arise. Fundraising for non-profits in the area (food banks, soup kitchens, family and crisis shelters, etc.)
Fees: No standard fees. Recipients are asked to pay back the amount requested in small weekly payments if they are able. If they can not do this, the assistance is a donation.
Hours of Service: Volunteers on all three shifts on regular working days. Service available on weekends by contacting a beeper number.
Funding Sources: Weekly 50/50 at all gates and buildings of Bath Iron Works. Special collections for Food Drives, Toys for Tots, etc. 15 - 30 people volunteer each week.
Other Information: Committee includes 5 union members and 2 volunteers from the United Way (Portland and Mid-Coast)
