Young People Now
Site of the Month - August, 1999

Well somebody had to get the URL www.youthwork.com. It turned out to be an upbeat American who has produced this site that, while produced within the US idiom of youth work, will be of interest and use to youth workers around the world. A large site, it has compiled extensive listings of youth work resources but also has interactive sections that enables you to read and contribute activities and games for youth work sessions and to post messages on discussion boards - the day we looked there was much debate about the Colorado school killings. Among the useful listings are youth helpline numbers around the world, year round dates of significance for youth work (including Youth Work Week in the UK), and links to youth work journals around the English-speaking world. The site uses a few fancy plug-ins which are a bit frustrating to download - the Youth Work Trivia Quiz looked fun but sadly we couldn't access it - and red on blue is not the easiest colour combination to read, but these minor gripes aside, the site is most useful.
